The Association of Professional Lifeguards El Salvador is a non-profit organisation, which had its beginnings in 2009 and eventually was founded in 2013 by Otoniel Almenar Angel and Alvaro Ulises Menendez, with the aim of promoting and strengthen the lifesaving and its activities as a profession in El Salvador, so helping to promote comprehensive water safety and reduce deaths by drowning in the territory of El Salvador, thereby serving urgent need of the Salvadoreans.

Today our association has over 100 members and is present in the western and central region, with offices in the departments of Sonsonate and La Libertad, we are working on the beaches of that area and developing training for the formation of new Lifeguards and updating the already certified Lifeguards.

We believe that the reduction of mortality from drowning in beaches and resorts in our country is important to prioritise the educational component as the main root of these situations, we are directing our efforts to bring education on water safety to schools, promoting the culture accident prevention and encouraging the need to learn to swim as a measure of fundamental protection in childhood.
