The ILS is pleased to announce that it has appointed John Martin MBE as its Event Director. John, who will be formally taking up the role at the start of July, brings a wealth of experience of all the events that the ILS organises, having been engaged in every Lifesaving World Championship since 1994 in key roles, and attending every World Conference on Drowning Prevention that has been held.

He will work closely with the Sport Commission and the Drowning Prevention Commission to support their work, and ensure that the ILS major events continue to develop and become truly global experiences that all can safely enjoy. Having been a member of the ILS Board of Directors representing Europe since 1994, John is now stepping down from the Board to be able to concentrate on the Event Director role.

Following a meeting at ILS HQ yesterday he said, “I am very excited at taking on this role. The ILS is now beginning to see its events become very attractive to hosts, and I hope to be able to ensure that there is a queue of potential host cities lined up and waiting for their chance to host one of our major events.” For all enquiries about events from 1st July contact John on j.martin@ilsf.org
