Selectors have announced a squad of 12 to represent the Australian Life Saving Team at the Lifesaving World Championships in The Netherlands in September.
The International Life Saving Federation is willing to improve the World Championships and therefore your opinion is very valuable to us. We issued a survey to identify what worked well and where improvements can be made for future World Championships.

Adelaide has won the right to host Rescue 2018, the Lifesaving World Championships. The international event is one of the first to be secured through the State Government’s $6 million Major Events Bid Fund, which was promised during the State Election and delivered in this year’s Budget.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Aug. 19, 2014) — The United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), the professional association of beach lifeguards and open water rescuers, announced the participation of its Youth National Team in Rescue 2014, Life Saving World Championships, held in Montpellier and La Grande Motte, France from Sept. 16-21.

Marcel Hassemeier from Germany, four time gold medalist in Life Saving at The World Games in Cali, was elected as IWGA Athlete of the Year.
Marcel Hassemeier (23) won the voting with 21.871 votes. He was the most successful athlete of The World Games 2013 by achieving four gold medals and one silver medal in Life Saving.

Japan Lifesaving Association has hosted International Surf Rescue Challenge 2013 (ISRC 2013) at Onjuku Beach, Chiba prefecture 19th -23rd September, sponsored by Sanyo Bussan. This event is based around a comprehensive competition program conducted over three tests, which includes swim, board, surf ski, and beach events. An overall point score maintained with the winner.
