The ILS Board of Directors met today 20 February 2004 in the beautiful convention Centre of the Ghazala Gardens Hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt). The following is a brief summary of the decisions taken today:
The Report of the ILS President was unanimously received. He mainly stressed the work done in the past and outlined the path for the coming months leading up to the General Assembly that will be held in Viareggio (Italy). He was happy with the progress of both the 2004 and 2006 World Championships.

The Report of the ILS President was unanimously received. He mainly stressed the work done in the past and outlined the path for the coming months leading up to the General Assembly that will be held in Viareggio (Italy). He was happy with the progress of both the 2004 and 2006 World Championships.
The Report of the ILS Secretary General was unanimously received. Besides the ongoing operational aspects, he mainly stressed the evolution of the ILS web site and the recently created Intranet.
The Reports of the four ILS Vice-Presidents were unanimously received. Developments in the following countries of the four ILS Regions were given:
Africa: South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rodriguez, Tunisia, Algeria, Liberia, Morocco and Egypt, etc¦
America’s: Argentina, USA, Canada, Mexico, St. Lucia, Venezuela, Brazil, USA, etc¦
Asia-Pacific: Jordan, Syria, Japan, India, Malaysia, New-Zealand ” Surf, New Zealand ” Royal, Iran, Australia ” Surf, Australia ” Royal, Singapore, Pakistan, Korea, etc¦
Europe: Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Germany, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Cyprus, Switzerland, etc¦
The Board received the reports of the Rescue & Education Commission, the Development Commission and the Sports Commission.
Furthermore the application of the Kuwait Lifesaving Federation was received and tabled until a formal Incorporation of the organisation and a demonstration of some lifesaving activities.
The main issue of the afternoon sessions was the approval of the new ILS Sports Regulations, the Anti-Doping Code and the list of banned substances.
The ILS President gave an overview of the position of ILS in the World of Sports and in the IOC and proposed a complete action plan for the coming months.
