Brazilian National Drowning Prevention and lifesaving Pool Conference

The First National Drowning Prevention and lifesaving Pool Conference was held in Brazil, São Paulo, July 2013, with attendance of 130 lifeguards and swimming teachers.

The motivation for such a pioner event was mainly two:

1. Although drowning resulting in death on pool is only 1.6% of all, it represents 50% of all death by drowning from 1 to 9 years old and was the main reason to celebrate the life on the event – to prevent it.

2. Gather the pool lifeguard together, professionals that usually work alone and isolated from any organization or lifeguard service. It was decided on this event, that Sobrasa will be organizing it every year from now on (next is at Minas Gerais – August 2014).
