27th NPS All-Women Lifeguard Tournament at Sandy Hook, N.J. (USA)

The 27th Allâ€"Women Lifeguard Tournament is set for Wednesday, July 27, 2011. It is presented by the National Park Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

It will take place at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Areaâ€" a National Park Service field unit located in the metro New York City region.

It is the oldest and largest tournament of its kind in the United States of America exclusively for women lifeguards.

It is an “inter-club” competition. It is open to any woman working as a lifeguardâ€" whether on a paid or volunteer basisâ€"at an oceanfront, river, bay, lake, or pool.

The meet's purpose is to showcase the high level of fitness and skill women bring to lifeguard work, and to encourage others to consider becoming lifeguards.
